                           Medical Coding is the process of assigning codes to a patients healthcare diagnosis, prescriptions, treatment received and more. These codes must be accurate as they make up the whole payment claim.

                             Medical Coders generate these codes by taking information from doctors notes, lab results, test results and more. There are three types of internationally recognised codes, which includes ICD, CPT and HCPCS Codes. International Classification of Diseases or ICD Codes are set of codes published and managed by WHO, World Health Organisation. These codes are diagnostic codes, which includes, causes of illness and death, diagnosis, signs and symptoms and more. 

                       For Example ICD Code P80.0 denotes Cold Injury Syndrome. Hypothermia or cold injury occurs when the core body temperature has decreased to 35 degree or below. The risk of cold injuries increases when the flow of blood is impeded when food intake is inadequate, or when insufficient oxygen is available as occurs at high altitudes.
